A Touch of Spring

When I was at Trader Joes last week, they had these little pots with three daffodils in tight bud, for sale.  I couldn't resist, as daffodils are probably my favorite flowers.  And unfortunately they are not around very long, each spring.  Two of them have opened and the third one is about to open.  I just wanted to share this little hint of "Spring" with you.  Most of us are living in deep freeze right now.  It was 20* on the big thermometer outside my kitchen window this morning.  And several hours later it's still only 27*.    There are some people (who shall remain nameless)  living in the southeast part of this country, running around barefoot and in shorts.  Why can't it be like that all over ?

Meanwhile, I will just enjoy my daffodils and think "SPRING."

  1. What lovely little harbringers of Spring your daffodils are.  I have been watching our daffodil shoots growing talller in the garden.  Its so uplifting to think that Spring is on its way.  There was Forsythia, snowdrops and primroses blossoming today as I  took my daily walk past neighbours gardens.  Something is stirring inside...at last!
    At looooong last!!!

  2. What a good idea, Linda.  I'll have to look for some.  Won't be long till the cherry trees are blooming, it's cold but the sun gets warm around noon.  I love daffodils too.  Joni

  4. Lovely daffs Linda, we at the garden centre are seeling lots of those little pots with spring bulbs. At this time of year people want to see a bit of colour in their lives after a dismal winter. Daffs always seem to be so cheery with their golden halos. :o)

  7. I look out the window at the beautiful clear skies and think, "I need to get out and enjoy this beautiful weather!"  Then I start to step out and my next thoughts are: "Your crazy, I'm staying INSIDE where it's warm!"

The daffodils look beautiful.  I got some tulips at Home Depot the other day to add a little spring feel to my home.  I'll probably be posting that photograph to share some spring with others. :-)

  8. Spring....what is that.....but thank-you for that beautiful reminder of one of God's many unique designs.
After my son finished his cancer treatments back in 81 I helped out at the fund raiser for Cancer where the daffodil is the flower.
Also I as an Alberta was stunned to see the thousands of wild ones growing out in Delta, BC when we moved there for a few years back in the 70's.
The best this "prairie chicken" gets is the Alberta Wild Rose that grows in the fields.

    Blessings...

PS Yipee....I have NOT turned on the TV yet today and actually got some work done.

  13. Beautiful flowers, Linda.  Yes, it is great to get a touch of Spring in the middle of winter.  BTW, I only go barefoot at home, I have to wear shoes on the job, LOL.

  15. Beautiful Daffodils Linda!  The days are beginning to lengthen here and the temps are quite a bit milder these past few days.  I am no fool though, I know the winter's not quite done with us yet and this is just a teaser!

  22. I'm ready for spring, too- so "forced" paper whites.  Great warmth inside whilst snow falling outside.  Family of deer in our yard this morning, eating from the bird feeder yet.  Will refill when I empty the waterbowl of ice -
