I FOUND IT !!!! I FOUND IT !!!!

I am so excited !!!  I found my Family Tree Maker information.  My son called and he walked me thru the "Search" thingy and the first time nothing showed up ~ so he had me re-boot and I searched again and THERE IT WAS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   (Can you tell that this old lady is excited?)

It is now saved on a CD Rolm, properly labeled and in a jewel case.

Ok, now I'm off to list & re-list on eBay.  I'm trying to get some $$ together for that upcoming vacation.

Oh and my son is going to tape "The Office" (the season premier is the week we leave) for me while I'm gone~he watches it too and he may even be in school on Thursday evenings so the episodes I miss will be on tape when I get back home.

I enjoyed a few minutes of JLand chatting this afternoon, in between mowing the front lawn and searching for the lost information.  I met some new people and have 2 new journals on alert.

  1. I had a great genealogy program, and was able to follow mine all the way to it's roots (well as far as I could anyway) to 1632 in England.  I wanted to follow my children's paternal line, and can't anywhere due to forgotten names, history, etc.  It's frustrating to say the least, so at the moment they have to be satisfied with just my side.  I'll be interested in hearing how it goes, and if you have success!  Keep us updated will you?  Thanks.  Sue

  4. Linda, so glad you were able to find your info! One of my uncles traced my Dad's family back to mid-1500's in Prussia, and that's such neat information to have.

Ken and I love "The Office," too, and I would say it's my favorite comedy on TV now, although "30 Rock" is a lot of fun, too. The thing that tickles me about "The Office" is that Michael Scott reminds me so much of a boss I had a while back! Totally clueless....

    My best,
    Beth

  7. I'm happy to hear you found your "thingy"! I'd like to see what kind of program it is because I've traced my maternal side to Paris, France in 1680-something. The Irish side of the family is a little tougher - so many bars, so many Irishmen.

  11. Yeah!  I know what a relief that was to find your FTM info. I lost a cookbook one time and just never had the heart to recreate it even though I had most of it printed.

  12. How much does it cost to use that service?
I'm interested to find out who my family is and where it all began?

  13. Are you jumping up and down lol that's how you sound!  Hey my sis did our family tree too, got the software, it's incredible.  I keep the full spread-sheet on my wall, it's color-coded and shows at a glance who came from who, when, where etc.  Something to treasure.  Cathy

  17. Glad to hear you found the information. After a couple of near misses with crashed hard drives I finally learned to back up anything I was concerned with. I probably go overboard with my pictures and some of the stories I've written since I back them up to CD periodically and then take the next oldest CD to store in my safe deposit box. Overkill probably but if something ever took out my computer AND my house (I don't even want to think about it!) I'd at least have all our pictures and all my writings.
