FREE HUGS

I wondered about the folks at Tacoma's Freedom Fair giving 'Free Hugs.' After the hug, you got a little sticker that says you got a free hug. Some people were put off by it, but others ~ myself included decided "sure why not?"

I believe I got hugged by a pretty blonde teenage girl. I was curious about the web site listed on the sticker. So I checked it out & found out they were people from Life Center...a large church here in Tacoma that I attended for over 20 years.

When you stop & think about it....I wonder how many people face everyday with no one to give them a hug or even a smile? I'm sure there are many. I hope some of those folks took advantage of the free hugs that were graciously given, on Tacoma's waterfront Saturday.

  4. my former pastor from Montana said this "everyone deserves a look, a touch, a smile and a word". seems this church is helping with at least the touch part (and I'm sure there was a smile and a word and a look in the process as they gave out the hugs)

that's neat!!! I think I would have gone for a hug too!

love your picture of Solvang; isn't that a nice place to spend some time?

  6. It all depends on who is giving the hug. I always get some derelict old bum with rummy eyes and a leer lunging after me, Oh NO you don't. LOL

  7. Free hugs can be nice.
Love your Solvang picture! I spent lots of time there when I lived in California. I even worked there for for a bit. It's a fun place!

  10. I am a hugger. I hug everyone. I even hug my manicurist before I leave. LOL AND my hairdressser. My family are all huggers. DH's are/were not. I'm sure the way I hugged took them aback in the early years. LOL I am also an I love you person. If I love a person, I tell them!! You may never get that chance again. Ya know? I knew someone once who, as a punishment to their 10 year old, withheld all hugs, I love yous and touching. Is that not cruel??? I was aghast. How can you NOT hug a child-whether that child is being punished or not?? I'm going to hug 2 of my granddaughters RIGHT NOW. I hope none of my kids ever tire of them. Yesterday I hugged my oldest son,Chad who will be 36 an extra long hard hug. I need a hug frin big brother whom I haven't seen in several years. :(
