It's still so cold. Actually the thermometer on my porch says it's 16 degrees. I think the weather guy said it was 22 degrees in my area. So my thermometer may be off a little. Even the road out in front of my house here in the park is compact snow and ice this morning. So I'm really glad to be home today and that I do not have to go out. I would like to get my hair cut but that's only about 6 blocks from here...so I'll call after 10am and see if she made it in to work. And the theater is in the same complex so I could go to a movie this afternoon if I want to. I feel so bad for the people up north of here. The snow was so much heavier. Many have had to abandon their cars along the freeways and even the side roads because they just couldn't go any further. Then apparently many of them ran out of gas while caught in traffic jams....there's something to be said for keeping your gas tank full, especially in the winter.
I've got a fire going in the wood stove to help heat the place and Miss Gabi is all stretched out on the back of the sofa, sound asleep. I keep telling her how lucky she is that she was rescued off the streets of Seattle and found a nice warm home. And she doesn't ever have to go out in the cold, wicked weather, since I'm agreeable to a litter box in the house.
Well, that's all for now. It's pay day so I suppose I should take a look at the bills and get them ready for the mail man to pick up.
I hope where ever you are...you can stay warm and dry. Linda in freezing cold Washington state

I'm glad you have the next few days off, so you don't have to commute. I'm nice and cozy now too but I do have to leave for work about 2:00, but I'm sure Floyd will drive me. I think we may be busy because the freeways are clear and people are cooped up at home with their kids out of school. Have a great day and be careful when you walk, it is so slippery. Joni

I'm glad you are staying at home today Linda hope the weather improves before you have to go back to work ~ Cuddling up with Miss Gabi in front of your woodburner sounds like a sensible way to spend the weekend ~ Ally
Isn't it nice to be off of work and be home, nice and toasty, when it is so cold outside? It is cold and windy here but no snow and not nearly as cold as there. I am going to make a big pot of soup and bake some cookies. Home sweet home.
Oh look at that lovely snow, can you send some to me Linda? I must admit though, I`d prefer to be at home in the warm looking out at it than being outside. Your wood stove looks so cosy> :o)

I think snow can be very beautiful... I like it here once a year, just a dusting so that everything is white for a day. I usually don't even get that.... but I know in your case, it's not a joy. So much for the warmest year on record, eh?

Fortunately for me, it was 52 up here today. Only thing was the howling gales of the last two days - up to 75 mph yesterday!
Hi Linda, at present I am back in Canada and what i hear from my friends is it is very cold in Oregon. The weather here has been very warm, almost sprinlike, plants growing and sprouting up through the ground. That is unheard of here at this time of year. We have not had a winter like this that most can ever remember. Unfortunately, it wont be for long like this the temperatures are going to dip dramatically and so has hit up north of us. We are expected to get some next week, I am not sure how much. It seems like you have had quite a few months of terrible storms and now snow. I was very sorry to hear you had damage to your home. Hopefully, the insurance companies will come through and things will be repaired quickly. Your wood stove looks nice and warm, have a good day. God bless.
All of the snow pictures are so pretty and I'm loving the snowmen... It's been dipping down into the twenties here in California and I have to scrape the ice off the car windows in the morning...
Try to keep toasty and have a cozy weekend!
Linda :)
Isn't this weather in the US crazy this winter? I've been longing for it and y'alls weather has been so harsh and the winds so violent. Now I hear it's going to be freezing in Central CA. We are in the low 20s right now{west Texas} (Sat. 3a.m.) and that is going to be the highs for the next 3 days...the low to mid twenties. With the cold has come fog, drizzle, freezing rain and hazardous icy roads. My son talked to a friend in OH who said their temps Fri were in the 60s. Crazy. I lOVE your wood stove, We had a wonderful fire in the fire place. Of course the granddaughters were fascinated by it. It's the first one we've had while they were here. So glad Gabi has a nice warm spot. Stay safe if you get out in the weather. Hugs, Barb
We're having really crazy weather here as well. I loved the pictures of the snow! I think the weather is crazy all over the place this year!

Hi Linda, Thanks for leaving your comment's. I was interested in hearing about your weather, gosh ad I was complaining about our high winds and continual rain. Its about 10 degress here at the moment. Which is above average for this time of year. The tax rebate no longer exist. It was abolished in about the late seventies. I cannot remember the exact time. It was very benificial at the time because it helped to generate the home. bye for now. Kathie.
