It's Not Avocado Anymore !

After a lot of scubbing, I finally got the avocado range hood ready to paint.  30 years of baked on grime...I've wiped it down regularly but it had "grime build-up" big time, and was a real challenge.  I used several different cleaning solutions on it and finally resorted to oven cleaner.  It got the grease off as well as some of the old paint. LOL.   But I got it smoothed out and masked off with newspaper and sprayed away.  Fortunately, the sun came out today (even though it is only in the mid-50's) , as I have both doors open and fans on to air out the house.  I love the final result.  Are the double oven doors next?   Every wall oven I've looked at is much bigger than the ones already there.  And there's no room to make a bigger opening.  Yup...the oven doors are next but maybe not until next Spring when I can take them outside and paint them.

Next big job is washing all those wood cupboard doors, with Murphy's Oil Soap, so I can put on the new hardware.  Maybe next week........

Oh man I don't envy you that job!.  I wish all we had to do is wash down our cabinets. Nearly 30 years of kids riding trikes and hot wheels and wagons in the house. I tell you, I really have tp nave to have them professionally redone or new ones all around. Can you say...$$$$$. UGH. I thought of just painting them white. Hubby nixed that. SIgh. He has no sense of what is updated. LOTS of homes have white cabs and woodwork. HE darn sure doesn't want to do it LOLOL.
Love the way your stove hood turns out.

Looks like a big job Linda, well done for tackling it! All my units in the kitchen are the original 40yr old painted pine ones put in when the place was built. I like them because they're solid and don't fall apart like new units. Plus I can sand them and repaint, changing the look as and when I like! Jeannette xx
