Let me start off by saying that I love Christmas music. The old Christmas carols are my favorite. I have more Christmas CD's than any other kind of music. And in grade school & high school I was fortunate to be part of the choir and I also sang in the church choir for many years, so I know lots of them. I've been known to play Christmas music in my car all year long, even during the hottest months of summer. Probably the oldest Christmas music that I love is Handel's "Messiah." That one goes way back ! But in the late 1990's a new song came on the scene. Written by Mark Lowry, who is a Christian comedian and part of the Bill and Gloria Gaither group. This song will stir your heart and soul. I hope it becomes one of your favorites like it has mine. This is Mark Lowry singing the song he wrote the words to;
Here's the lyrics to this powerful song;
Mary, did you know
That your baby boy will one day walk on water?
Mary did you know
That your baby boy will save our sons and daughters?
Did you know
That your baby boy has come to make you new?
This child that you've delivered
Will soon deliver you
Mary, did you know
That your baby boy will give sight to a blind man?
Mary did you know
That your baby boy will calm a storm with his hand?
Did you know
That your baby boy has walked where angels trod?
And when you kiss your little baby
You've kissed the face of God
Mary, did you know?
The blind will see
The deaf will hear
And the dead will live again
The lame will leap
The dumb will speak
The praises of the Lamb
Mary, did you know
That your baby boy is Lord of all creation?
Did you know
That your baby boy will one day rule the nations?
Did you know
That your baby boy is heaven's perfect Lamb?
This sleeping childyou're holding
Is the great "I Am" ?

I have never heard of Mark Lowry or the Carol but he certainly can sing and the words were simply wonderful. I have really enjoyed all my visits around JLand to listen to everyone's songs.
No wonder you want to sing and play them all year round in your car.
Wonderful!
Thanks for the invitation. Magic!

Thank you so much for this; I got chills, and a tear or two! Although I've heard the song sung many times, by different artists, I was happy to see the actual writer of the song sing it so beautifully! Have a wonderful Christmas Linda. Judy, in CT
