They are done, they are finally done.....

.......my Christmas cards & letters that is !!!  I just finished the last of them.  I have four or five more gifts to wrap and then they'll be done too.  There's still a package to get ready for mailing to California but that won't take long either.

I may actually get to do some baking this year...or not.  No, I would like to make some Cranberry bread and several different kinds of cookies to put in the freezer to have on hand in case I need them.

Tonight they've been able to open up one lane of Interstate 5 down south of here, for big trucks only.  Cars still have to take either an 85 mile detour over two lane country roads or a 400 mile detour over the mountain passes and thru eastern Washington, then along the highway that borders the Columbia River and back to I-5.

Four huge moving vans headed south from the Seattle area loaded with supplies for those who have lost everything.   I also found out from a friend of mine that those who loose their homes to mud slides and/or floods have no coverage from their homeowners insurance unless the have mudslide & flood insurance attachments on their policies.  Same with earthquake damage....you have to have that special rider on your policy to get damage coverage. Those insurance companies love to take our money but they hate to pay out.

Well that's all for now...I'm going to relax and watch a little TV tonight.  Barbara Walters has a special on tonight I plan on watching.  It's 39 degrees and falling...we're in for another cold spell.    Take care.....Linda

Hey guess what, I finished my cards too, sent out over 20.  Pretty good for someone that hasn't sent any for a long, long, time.  The wrapping no such luck, not even done shopping, don't have a tree, or the decorations down from storage.  But I did make one batch of cookies.  Have a good night!  Joni

I'm still only about halfway through my cards, but am hoping to get the rest done after Church on Sunday.  Every year I tell myself I am going to start doing them a lot sooner, but somehow that never happens!

Well done on your Xmas cards, Linda. I'm pleased a relief effort is getting underway for those that were affected by the severe weather earlier in the week. You're right about insurance companies, but sometimes it's a question of which risks to expect and insure against.

Great job on the Christmas cards.  I haven't even thought about sending any yet!  I feel so bad for the people who have lost their homes & more only to find out they are not covered by insurance.  Insurance companies are just nasty...but then again I guess it is up to us ultimately to make sure we are covered for everything that could happen.  I have earthquake riders on mine, the chances are slim it would happen but it has in the past...not huge but you never know so I pay the extra $40 a year for it.
