Mystery Blogger IV

So the news is out....I was indeed the Mystery Blogger IV posted by Donna at "This and that, and hockey."

I love looking at all the pictures in my mom and dad's photo album....my dad left to go overseas (WWII)  in July 1942 when I was just 6 months old.  He returned just before I turned 4 years old.  My mother and all the relatives took a ga-zillion pictures of little Linda because her daddy was away and they all wanted to keep him updated.

This picture was dated Christmas Day 1943....just a little over a week before my 2nd birthday. Mom must have taken me outside to take a couple pictures (no flash in those days) and then right back in.  This was taken at my grandparent's home (I posted that picture a week or so ago) and they lived in Sunnyside, Washington..which is on the east side of the state and really cold in December.   I noticed how mom had braided my hair.  I've always had a lot of hair and she loved fixing it in different styles when I was young.

Thank you mom for taking this picture, so dad could see what his little girl was doing on Christmas day...

Someone said in their comment they remember the old galvanized tubs.  I do too...they became "outdoor pools" on hot summer days.

I'm sure I speak for Donna, when I say thank you to all who ventured a guess.  Keep watching Donna's journal for the next "Mystery Blogger.

Well, you were a cutie. I went through the same with my Dad, he was in the Marines when I was born in Jan 44, he was injured and I never saw him until I was three years old. Thankfully he recovered fully except he lost hearing in one ear. I remember those little irons too...take care...I can't wait I will be flying your way next Wednesday....its a long trip from Florida but I am so looking forward to seeing my sister and my son...be well, love, Sandi

What a cutie you were Linda!  My Todd was a newborn when his papa went off to war and seven when he returned.  It must have been so difficult for the soldiers and for the families left behind to have been separated for such a long time.  I'm sure all those pictures of you as a wee one were very precious to your daddy.

Aww, too cute! Did you see the commenter note that you weren't wearing a helmet, you could have gotten a splinter, etc.? It was pretty funny--things have sure changed from when we were kids!

Linda, I was able to guess that it was you only because you were on my mind since you gave a plug for Donna's site and the next alert was Donna's. You also reminded me of my older sister who had an ironing board like that and the same hair style, Bill

Yep, I got it right...

Thank you for sharing the picture. I remember those tubs. My grandma had one. She did laundry outside in it and washed the dog. I wish i had one of those big claw foot tubs. What a big relaxing way to take a bath....hugs, Christine
