Cookie Exchange?

Here's a great cookie recipe that I've used in the past for cookie exchanges during the holidays. And if you don't have the opportunity to be involved in a cookie exchange, it's a good cookie to have on hand when holiday company stops by.

Sweet Dreams

1/2 pound butter,  1-1/2 cup brown sugar,  1 egg,  2 cups flour,  1 teaspoon baking soda,  1/2 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon cinnamon,  1 teaspoon ginger, 1 teaspoon vanilla, 1~ 12 ounce package chocolate chips,  1 cup chopped walnuts (optional), powdered sugar

Cream the butter in a large mixing bowl.  Add brown sugar and egg; beat well.  In a smaller bowl mix together;  flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and ginger.  Combine with butter mixture and mix in vanilla.  Fold in chocolate chips & walnuts.  Chill for several hours.  Form dough into 1 inch balls, roll in powdered sugar.  Place on cookie sheet and bake at 375* for 8 to 10 minutes.  Makes approximately 6 dozen delicious cookies.   NOTE:  Dough can be frozen and brought to room temperature and baked when needed.

Those sound delicious Linda.  I may give them a try this Christmas!  I love cookie exchanges.  Not only do you get to bring home a variety of different cookies, but you get to spend a cosy evening with a bunch of good friends!

Awe, I am not in a cookie exchange...but this sounds good and not too difficult to make either.  You may know this Linda.....what are the cookies that are puffy, almost like filled with air and then I think, rolled in confectioner sugar???  They are so good but I never know what they are called, they are probably hard to make.  Thanks for the recipe, I may try cookies this year!
