A Fair Day

The rain stopped by the time we got to the fair grounds.  It was overcast (overcast is ok) and just perfect !  Not too crowded like it is on a sunny day and we had a wonderful time.  There were 97 full size quilts displayed this year and we looked at each one.  There were also quilted wall hangings and table runners, crocheted items, baked goods, canned food  and the highlight was the "Cooking with Spam" contest (yuk!).We looked at all the displays in the hobby hall..I loved the yellow rubber duck display. Found my grandkids model entries (both won Honorable Mention) and checked out the huge model train display..it takes up a huge area in this big room.  There were 5 men with remotes running all the trains around the tracks.  We watched the Royal Canadian Mounted Police show and also a draft horse show, looked at the 4-H dogs, cows, sheep, goats, rabbits, chickens, etc.  There are some beautiful new buildings out there and lots of new benches (old folks love benches) and restrooms. My favorite place to eat...the Young Life Bar b que is now in a new shiny facility with lots of indoor seating.  I took a bunch of pictures but my back and feet hurt tonight so I'll go thru those later and post some of them another day.  All in all it was a marvelous "girl's day at the fair."  I wish all of you out there in J-land could have been there with me.  Until next time...Linda

I've heard Claudia won "Grand Champ" again, she must relish the open playing field since I'm out of the loop
