Has Everyone Forgotten ?

Today is Wednesday, December 7, 2005.  It was a Sunday...December 7, 1941 that Pearl Harbor was attacked, 64 years ago.  I see there is no mention of it on the front page of my local paper (probably there's a little blurb buried deep in some section that no one reads).  There was a slight mention of it on the local Seattle news this morning.  And only one of the many calendars (yes, I'm a calendar freak) in my house mentions it.  I don't remember it either..but I do know that 4 weeks later, to the day, I was born and that 6 months after that my dad left for his basic training with the U S Army. I'm sure there are thousands of families who remember that they gave their sons and daughters to go and fight the battle that became known as World War II. And  I'm sure the relatives of those many dear people who lost their lives that day, remember it too.  How soon we forget......Linda

I heard on the news when I was exercising a little blurp from Roosevelt's speech that day. So the radio station didn't forget. 64 years ago.....not too many of the veterans still left and fading every year. We will forget one day I fear.....

I do agree ,we are probably the last generation that will remember though ,we were children and it was being spoken about in our formative years ,so indirectly we were involved ..............Jan xx

I visited Pearl Harbour last year and learnt of the courage of the men. To see all those ships sunk in the harbour was so sad. Let's never forget what those men suffered for us. Jeannette.

I wasn't born yet, but my late father proudly served in WWII.  He & my husband (who served in the Viet Nam era) are part of the reasons that all three of our children went into the Military straight out of High School. Both of sons went into the Army (our younges is still in, and was in Kuwait when the war broke out over there).  Our daughter was in the Navy. So, we will never forget and honor all veterans.  "Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it"

I'm re-commenting on this. I left a comment the day you posted this, but wanted to tell you that when I opened our local newspaper later on the morning of
December 7th, they had a front page article about how the school district is making sure kids remember what this day was and means and also another article also on the front page of local veterans. So here in Billings Montana where I live they have not forgotten.
