FRIDAY EVENING

I've heard from my son several times today.  He says the right side of his face is more swollen today and that he feels like he was ran over by a big truck.  When I talked to him on the phone, he sounded stuffed up like he had a bad head cold.  A friend of his came and took him to clean out his car, so he was happy that's done.

He only had one request for Christmas...an electric blanket.  His upstairs aprtment has very little heat in the winter so I can understand why he'd want one.  Well, I called around.....today being the biggest shopping day before Christmas, I was surprised that those who answered the phones in the various stores were very pleasant.  I ended up at my favorite store...Gottschalks....at a mall near my home.  They had Sunbeam electric blankets for 80% off.  So this beautiful $180.00 blanket cost me just under $60.00. I was thrilled and I know he'll be happy to have a warm bed.  I told him I'd found one and that I'd leave it out and he could have it before Christmas.   When it's something they  need...it's mean to make them wait until December 25th.    Other than that, I didn't do any shopping.  I think I'm pretty much done anyway.

It's still very cold tonight.  They say it's snowing like crazy in the mountains. But Gabi and I are all cozy here in the house with a fire in the wood stove, so we don't care.  I'm anxious to see if the weather man is correct in saying we'll get snow down here in the lowlands.   My car has all time 4 wheel drive but I still don't like to drive in the snow because of the other people on the road.   There are some drivers who like to even exceed the speed limit the worse the streets are. I  never could figure out that mentality.

Well folks it's back to my Christmas cards...and the movie I've got going.   Take care and have a wonderful Saturday.    Until next time.............Linda

P.S.  Bye Jeannette and Andy....have fun and be safe !!!!!

My parents (mostly my Dad's fault, I think) NEVER give gifts early, especially when we were children....we had to wait til Chrismas morning!    Oh that was so hard to do.    Poor Jim...tomorrow will most likely be his worst day...or Sunday.   I've always heard the third day is the worst, then ya start feeling better.  Y'all hang in there.
No snow here!   We're going to have 70° weather tomorrow for the second round of playoff's   Gooo Lions!

My gosh, Linda, I just caught up on all of your news.  I am so glad your son wasn't hurt any worse that he was.  What a blessing.  He had an angel in the car with him.  When you give him the blanket, tell him to turn it on about an hour before he goes to bed so his sheets are warm when he climbs in bed.  I do that and it just feels so good.  Relaxes me and I fall asleep much faster.
Hugs,  Kathy

I've been telling anyone who would listen that the only thing my husband and I want for Christmas is an electric blanket or electric mattress pad.  My daughter said no way and my MIL said no, she had something else in mind.  ::sigh:: We just want an electric blanket.  For that price, I'll have to check out the store and see if they are still on sale tomorrow.

Sounds like your son is on his way to healing which is the worst (But the Best)  Glad he asked for something practical.  And the price you got it for is unreal.   :)

Glad your son is feeling better, he is so lucky.  It is good you are giving him his present, he is not going to feel too good for a while, the blanket will definetly help.

Poor thing.  I hate the thought of him being cold and hurting.  I've got 2 sick little granddaughters tonight.  I've been holding one or the other of them under a quilt with me while my son cleans up the "accidents"  Poor babes.  Someone was ill over at their grandmother's house, so I guess something is going around. Ugh.  I suppose the rest of us in the house will get it next.
Lucky you to get Jim's blanket on sale!  And you're done with your shopping?  Lucky you.  I am  barely started.  And you are expecting snow? I'm like you I sure hat to drive in it.  I hate traffic anyway.
Have a good week.  Hugs, Barb

How nice that your son is going to be snug and warm. I agree, it would have been unfair for him to wait until Christmas.  Wish we could have some snow.  I can imagine you and Gabi all snug in front of a fire.

I hope you have a good winter, one where you and your neighbors and friends can stay warm. I want at least a week of snow in our area. Just enough to close schools for  a week, but keep the main roads clear enough for safe travel for those who need to get around the city... is this possible? Around here it is. Stay warm, Linda. Glad your son is going to be okay. Bea
