I Was Going To Mow The Lawn

I was going to do that today...I should have done it yesterday afternoon when the sun was shining and the birds were chirping but I stayed in the house and ironed all day.  Now the ironing is done and it's raining out there...so much for lawn mowing today.  There have been years when I've mowed as early as the end of January...but not this year.  The weather has been so weird. But now, it's growing taller by the day.

I got a phone call last night from the daughter of a friend of mine. This is another friend that I've had clear back from the grade school & high school days.  Anyway, this friend celebrates her 65th birthday in April and her daughter was calling from Arizona to let me know that they are having a surprise birthday party for her on April 14th (in Arizona) and did I think I could be there?  She said they want to do a "This is Your Life"  kind of thing and so are trying to line up the "surprise" guests.   Well, it just so happens that friend Bob and I have been discussing taking off in his truck and camper, in the next week or so and heading in that general direction.  He has two days left on his season ski pass to ski free in the Reno area and is anxious to get down there before the snow is gone, so asked me if I'd like to go along. It just so happens that friend Barbara and her hubby will be in Reno from March 23rd thru the 29th, so while he's skiing, I could be off exploring with them.   Then... I said I'd never been to the Grand Canyon and I'd love to see the Grand Canyon West Skywalk that opens March 28, 2007.  I rather doubt I'd pay the $25 to walk out on it but it would be interesting to see. So we may go thru the Grand Canyon area, then over to southern California to his daughter & family's place in Pasadena.  I want to go to the San Diego Zoo this trip, so if we do that, I'd also go see my friend Judi (she was up here last August & went on the Alaska cruise) while I was in San Diego.  From Pasadena, we could make the 5 hour trip to the Phoenix area on April 14th for the surprise party with no problem.  Anyway, as in the past this will be discussed and then it will either be dropped completely or he'll say "ok, can you be ready in 2 days to leave?"  If he decides not to make the trip, I'll still go to the party in April.  My friends daughter works for an airline and offered me a buddy pass to fly down & back. Now you see why I ironed summer clothes all day yesterday.  I need to talk to my son about taking Gabi to his apartment while I'm gone.  I'd prefer her to be able to stay here but I'm not sure he'll go for that.  Anyway...that's what's going on here....rain and hoping to get out of town and heading for the sunshine and warm temps.  My lawn will no doubt be 3 feet high when I get back.  Oh, well...I guess you can still buy a herd of goats somewhere.

Happy Monday, everyone...hope it's drier where you are than here.   I'll keep you updated.  Until next time, Linda

I hope you can do all those things Linda! It;'d be great to meet up with your friends as you'll be down that way! The Grand Canyon is breath taking, so big! I've been there twice and flew through it in a helicopter too, unforgettable experience! Well done on the ironing! Jeannette xx   http://journals.aol.co.uk/jlocorriere05/Welcometomytravels/
