Oh, those were the good old days....

My daughter, Julie, sent me this link to a YouTube video of  Foster Brooks and Dean Martinhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8L-ZZSc8JU&mode=related&searchAnd here's another one; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DYusPRre07k

Why can't TV once again be like it was back in the 1960's, 70's & 80's ?   You could come home from work, eat dinner and sit and relax.....relax with great comedy & musical shows....Dean Martin, Carol Burnett, Laugh In...the list goes on and on.  I feel 90% of the shows today leave much to be desired.  I guess that's why I find myself watching "M*A*S*H," "Seinfeld" & "Everybody Loves Raymond" reruns.

The AOL home page and the news broadcasts are running the news of the passing of Merv Griffin.  There was another TV great.  Creating two very long running shows, "Jeopardy" and "Wheel of Fortune"   He was a very creative and talented man.

Well, my break is over....I'm still trying to sort thru the carport sale stuff.  One box for the thrift shop and the rest to be kept and put away.  And the boxes of books that I'll take to Half Price books in exchange for a little cash.

I was just thinking that a week from today, we'll be tramping around Juneau.  I've called the quilt shop I visited there last year and asked them to hold some fabric for me....a gift for my grand daughter.   The temperature has been running about 65* much like what we've been experiencing here in the Pacific Northwest, thelast few weeks.  So at least we won't have a drastic climate change.  Last year at this time, we'd gone 90 days with no measurable rain and unusually high temperature.  So I packed all these "summer" clothes and wore the same two pair of jeans all week.  This year I'm packing differently.....  :)

Enjoy the YouTube video, until next time.......Linda

Hello Linda, It`s always hard to know what to pack when going on holiday. Often I take clothes for all weathers and have a very heavy suitcase...lol! I agree with you about TV these days. Here in England we have so many `reality` shows and not enough good entertainment programmes that I don`t bother watching very much anymore. :o(

Yes those were the good old days. Right now I'm watching a show about serial killers. Not appropriate for my granddaughters who are watching some  preteen show where oyhs and girls are kissing. Probably not apporpriate either. I don't think they "get it" anyway.
Well, I  envy your trip next week. Wish I were going along. Have a wonderful time. Sounds like it's going to be just right temperature wise.
Hugs, Barb

Yes those shows were great and nice to watch when I want to relax.  Right now I'm watching Big Brother, can you believe it?  You must be getting excited, you're going to have so much fun.  Joni

Oh, I miss the good old days as well.  I used to love watching the Red Skelton show and The Honeymooners too.  I loved the old variety shows and what would Sunday Nights have been without the Wonderful World of Disney and The Ed Sullivan show or Saturday Nights without Lawrence Welk for that matter!  We have alot of old shows on DVD that we choose to watch most of the time.  We just don't like very much of what is on the telly today!  I was sorry to hear about Merv Griffen.  I hadn't heard.

Linda you are right about TV Shows ~ there don't seem to be any light hearted programmes on any more ~ Not long to go now till you are on holiday ~ don't forget to pack your camera :o) ~ Ally x

I am tired of "Reality" TV, it is bad enough to have to live in reality sometimes, why do we have to watch it on tv now.  I loved the old sit-coms and variety shows.  I sooooo loved Dean Martin, my mom always teases me about how much I adored him.  I'll definately check out the vids when I'm at a faster machine.
