Lunch With Debbie

My friend Jan belongs to a book club that meets on the first Wednesday of every month, at a local Round Table Pizza place less than a mile from our houses. She had invited me to go with her this month because local author Debbie Macomber was scheduled to be the special guest and she knows I love Debbie's books.   (Click on her name to go to her web site for a list of her books.)

So Jan picked me up a little after 11am, we went over to Round Table and got their pizza buffet & salad bar (yummy) and visited with those seated around us while we waited for Debbie to arrive.  I had her 2007 Christmas  book for her to sign and a book plate for her book "Knit Together" which I have  ordered but it hasn't arrived yet.

Debbie arrived and after she greeted everyone, she brought us up to date on her books.  She said she mailed book #8 in the Cedar Cove series to her editor today.  It's due out next summer.  And told us about a couple other books coming out in 2008 and also what's planned for 2009.

If you've never read her books they are delightful.  She's written over 100 books and they are all good.  Her Cedar Cove series is based on the fictional town of Cedar Cove, Washington...which is actually her home town of Port Orchard, WA just across the Narrows Bridge from me.

She's made the New York Times best seller list over and over and is a down to earth lady who has a gift to write great stories. This is actually the third time, I've been to one of her book signings.  The first time was in December 2005, then I saw her again at a new Boarder's Book Store in Gig Harbor a couple weeks ago and now today.

Well, I'm off to the dentist...they called and want to X-ray that tooth where they found a little cavity under a crown.

Until next time....Linda

I will have to check out her books..I don't read much but it's great when I find a good author and then have the books to hunt for.  I like mystery novels mostly.
