Some Holiday Spirit Inside & Out

In my entry yesterday, I posted a photo of the Christmas cards that have come in....taped on the inside of my front door, surrounding a red berry wreath.  I had a couple emails asking why no wreath outside...well there is one.  So today I've posted some more pictures.  The wreath on the outside of my front door, then on my porch....my precious old rusty milk can with a bright red holiday bow, my old watering can with silk poinsettias, my "Think Snow" holiday sign (you can tell I'm not worried about going to work this winter on snowy mornings) and finally a shot of my "always decorated" 4 foot Christmas tree.  "Always decorated" means just what it says...I leave it decorated and when the holidays are over, I unplug the lights, wrap plastic around it and put it out in my storage shed until next year. If you ever need a decorated Christmas tree in the middle of July....I'm the person to call.

Earlier today, Bob and I went down Interstate 5 about 20 miles to Lacey.  We had a "buy one, get one free" coupon for a Mexican restaurant down there.  There food was fabulous by the way and I brought one enchilada, some beans and a little rice home for lunch tomorrow.

After we left there we drove over to the new Cabela's Store that recently opened. Oh my gosh...I've never seen anything like it.   185,000 square feet of retail area, a restaurant that serves among other things wild game (bison burgers were today's special~sorry Lisa), animal displays, huge aquariums, a laser light shooting range.....you could stay in there all day.  I was bummed that did not have my camera, the animal displays were beautiful .  I'm hoping that maybe after the holidays we can take another drive down there during the week when there's not so many people in the store.  It was packed today.

All the presents are wrapped so I took the gift wrap out to the storage shed for another year. I'm glad to get it out of here and be able to get some of the clutter cleared out of the living room.  Now I have to make out a grocery list for next Saturday's family meal and maybe do some baking.   Oh and I have to put together a basket for my brother & sister in law.  We have been doing that the last few years rather than giving each other regular wrapped gifts.  It's nice because in a basket, you get a little bit of this & that.  I'll put some cookies and cranberry bread in their's along with some things I picked up on my travels this last year.

I hope everyone had a great weekend....and I know you've gotten all your shopping done, everything is wrapped and under the tree or in the mail, your cards are written & mailed and this next week you can kick back and relax......until next time;   Linda

Nice pictures thanks for sharing, your tree looks lovely, watch out going to that new store, though it sounds good I love those big shopping spaces trouble is i always spend far too much money. The holiday baskets are a good idea too, much nicer than presents in some ways.

Shopping done and we opened already...we celebrate on Dec 16 since it's my inlaws Anniversary and also the day they adopted their son (my hubby) umpteen years ago.  So we decided we would have a great dinner (ham) and open gifts, give thanks, and yada yada all on the same day!  Easy and no need to have all kinds of stuff going on for DAYS and DAYS!  I will share pics tomorrow of it all!  Have a great day today!

Loved seeing the pictures of your Christmas cheer.  I have only begun my Christmas preparations really.  I did get all my gifts sent overseas and have gotten all my cards out, but precious little has been accomplished for my "here at home" celebrations!  I will be able to get it all done now as my boss left for America yesterday and I will have much more time to spend on it all!

I enjoyed seeing the rest of your decorations and what a good idea of keeping the christmas tree decorated for next year!  I wish!!
Ours goes into our attic and shares the space with my husband's train set so it needs to go underneath the wall to wall boards which hold the tracks.
My daughter and I always wrap the presents on Christmas Eve but I reckon I will have to do them myself this year as they are rather large and will need to be hidden again until Christmas Day as they are all staying here for Christmas.
I like the idea of making up a basket ofr each other...perhaps next year...

The Cabelas store sounds really nice.  We have a BassPro Outdoors World here, but While it is huge, it is not quite on the scale of the Cabela's I'll bet.  Wrapping up my final Christmas purchases today and I guess the pun WAS intended this time.  I hope to be able to relax and enjoy the rest of the holidays after my forage out onto the shopping battlefield today.  Take care.

Keeping your tree decorated all year is a very good idea!! I've bought most of my presents, but not much going on here in the way of preparations.  Sounds like you are gonna have a busy week.
Take care

Oh I love what you did with the milk can ~ I have two of them and never thought to do anything with them!  Thanks for the idea, I think I will borrow it :)
Cabelas is an awesome store isn't it??? I was overwhelmed when I went in too - can you imagine stocking a store like that???  If you go again you must buy some of their fudge, yes fudge, it is the best I have ever tasted....ever ~ and I know my fudge! LOL   People are crazy over bison burgers, once they have one they say they'll never go back to hamburger.  I've never had any.
