Friday Morning

Friday morning , the first day of the long Memorial Day weekend.  I see that the kids are not in school today at the grade school just west of here, so they get a extra long weekend.  It's raining this morning...very typical of this holiday weekend here in the Pacific Northwest. And I'm determined to clean this house today and perhaps over the weekend make some progress in the act of "de-cluttering."

The flowers, shrubs and trees are particularly beautiful right now.  I'm thinking I may drive thru the park here where I live and take some pictures.  But this is what I see, thru the mini blinds, out my living room window as I sit at my computer....

...the beautiful pink rhody in front of my house.  I didn't prune it last spring, so it's getting quite tall.   Hey, you can even see my mailbox out there, just in front of the big cedar tree.

Harrison Ford & the rest of the Indiana Jones cast is really making the rounds of the talk shows. I was thinking that the studio made a good call, opening that movie on the Friday of a long weekend. If I go by the theater just up the street this weekend, I'll have to take notice of the parking lot. I'll bet it will be packed !  There's a Ruby Tuesday's restaurant in that complex too and when there's a big hit playing that place is always packed.

Gas is up at $4 a gallon here in town now. Where will it stop?  Bob & I are considering another road trip in October and if this continues....we may change our plans. His daughter in California wants him to come there for his October 11th birthday.

Speaking of Bob...he has two grand kids graduating from high school in the next few weeks.  His grand son in Pasadena is graduating as is his #2 grand daughter here locally. She goes to a rather large high school so I don't know if we'll get to go to the ceremony or not.

My son continues on Ancestor.com with his search for his roots on his dad's side.  He did make a connection last night with part of the family we've heard about so that was exciting. He's done an amazing amount of work in just a week or so. Ancestor.com allows for a 14 day free trial and then I think the first 30 days after that is around $20.

Well, folks if I'm going to get anything done today, I need to get off here and get started.

I hope you all have a fun and safe Memorial Day weekend.  Until next time,  Linda

Gorgeous rhody!  Good luck decluttering.  I'm fighting that battle right now!  Oh wait, I'm avoiding that battle right now, since I'm on the computer!

Thats a delightful peek out the window. Beautiful flowers always lift the spirits, even in the rain. I need to de-clutter so badly, hubby just tells me to throw it all out..lol.  I guess I'm a pack rat and then doing Ebay doesn't help either. Even though its small jewelry does take up room, as I have different boxes for different types. Oh, your son is going to love tracing family roots, I got involved about five years ago and found so much stuff on line I loved it. I got the family back to 1758 on my mother's side, which is harder to do than the paternal side. My Grandma's people going back to the 1700 were Scotch Irish and settled right outside of Charleston NC..hardly any of them left so the area is just chocked full of info. I love it when you can flesh out your ancestors make them come alive with their own stories...it is a wonderful way to tell history too. Good luck to him on his ancestory travels....love, Sandi

You have a great view out your window.  School is finished here and the last of the graduations (senior) is tonight.  I don't have anyone graduating but this is a small town so I know several of the kids.  Very exciting time for them.  Have a nice holiday weekend Linda.

Nice view from your window Linda.  I have someone's wall.  But I can walk out the back door and see trees and a river.

We're expecting rain here this weekend as well.  Par for the course on a bank holiday weekend though.   We usually do have bad weather for them!  Good luck with the de-cluttering!  I need to do a massive de-clutter myself!
