Friday Afternoon Update

I still have not shampooed my carpet.  Bob's shampooer is such an antique I haven't been able to use it.  So I went to Fred Meyer today, to pick up a few groceries & looked at their machines.  I settled on a smaller, upright Dirt Devil.  They had it on sale, and yesterday I was on their web site and read some reviews on it.  Some people didn't think it was all that great but others raved about it.  The one thing I like is that it's light weight and won't break this old lady's back when I use it. I think if I use it on a regular basis...I will be able to keep my light colored carpet looking acceptable.  But by the time I got it home & got it assembled it was 3:30pm and too late to shampoo.  So I'll wait and do the living room later tonight and then go to bed.  Hopefully it will be dry in the morning.

While I was at Fred Meyer I just happened to wander by the Starbucks booth they have in their store.  I'd heard about their new "Vivanno" cold drink. Just launched this week, the only one they could make at this time is the chocolate/banana one and I found it to be quite good.  http://www.businessweek.com/the_thread/brandnewday/archives/2008/07/starbucks_vivan.html

As I said earlier the planes have been flying again today, practicing their routines.  There's quite a write up in our local paper today and some of thehighlights of this weekend's air show are;  CV-22 Osprey at a cost of $89 million it's a strange looking thing with a crew of four. It can take off vertically and hover like a helicopter.  It can carry 24-32 troops or 10,000 pounds of cargo;   C-17 Globemaster III ...they go over the house every day, transporting troops and cargo &  flying support of both military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan (I would love to take a ride in one of these big planes); F-16 Fighting Falcon has a top speed of 1,500 mph and I think that's how fast they are going when they buzz my house.  This plane can fly in all kinds of weather and comes in one-seat and two-seat models; and the Air Force Reserve is going to show off their Jet Car that can hit 400 miles per hour in just 8 seconds. With just a crew of one driver it's mission is for entertainment purposes only.  They say there will be approximately 100 airplanes features this weekend. Today the sky is very overcast, not blue like yesterday...I hope it clears up by 11am Saturday when the flying begins.   My grandson was out again today taking pictures...here's a few shots of The Thunderbirds (notice the cloudy sky).

Very Cool Planes!!
I grew up with the Thunderbirds and Blue Angels every summer on base....
I think the last air show I saw was in 1987, I was 8months pregnant with son1.....
I miss it.....

Those birds sure can make some noise eh?  Every time they go over my house Princess barks at them.  LOL and the other night they were flying and I looked out the window and could see the afterburn behind them...it was cool.

Happy shampooing.

The shots of the planes are great Linda, your grandson should be proud of them! I hope yopu get the carpets shampooed, sounds too much like hard work to me, I'll stick to the l;amnate floors I think ~ far easier to pick up cat hair from them! We've got  Starbucks just opened near here but everybody's boycotting it as they never got permission to open as a coffee shop. In that road we have over a dozen coffee shops, it's only about 150yds long! There's such a thing as too many coffee shops! I hope the weather stays good for the air show.
