Friday Night TV

I saw it in the movie theater but tonight I watched again....the movie "The Queen."  Now I realize in another day it will be 11 years since the night of that horrible event.  The world lost a very special lady~a Princess.  I remember spending the whole weekend, in tears, glued to the television.  For those of you in the U.K. I can't even imagine how sad it was for you.  My thoughts and prayers will be with her boys and the Spencer family this weekend.

After the movie was over I turned back to a Seattle TV station to watch the end of the NFL preseason game between the Seattle Seahawks and the Oakland Raiders~played at the beautiful Qwest Field in Seattle.  My son and his friend had tickets and were there somewhere in that mass of people. Now he has to get out of the parking lot and drive home from Seattle...probably will take him at least an hour and a half. And he has to go to work tomorrow morning.   I wonder if he's happy or sad?  The Seahawks won 23-16 but my son absolutely loves the Raiders.  He's got Raiders decals on the back window of his truck, Raiders shirts, jackets...you name it~he's got it. In the past he's flown to where the Raiders were playing even though he didn't have tickets to the game.  Him & a buddy would fly in, have a cab driver take them to a sports bar where they could watch the game & get a bite to eat, then get a cab back to the airport and fly back to Seattle. Crazy?  Yup, but he's a true fan.   Would he dare root for the Oakland Raiders tonight surrounded by 40 or 50 thousand Seahawks fans (the 12th Man)?

Qwest Field, home of the Seattle Seahawks

The temperature hovered right at 70* all day today.  At times there wasn't even the  slightest breeze, then all of a sudden the wind would come up and blow like crazy.  Then as quick as it came up...it would die down. It went like that all day.  Weird !  My carport is already filling up with leaves.  I swept them up today but soon it will be time to get the leaf blower out.  I hate to see fall come...even though it's a beautiful time of the year~Old Man Winter is always right behind it.

Well, folks it's late...I think it's time to head down the hall with my book and my kitty.  Until next time, Linda

I think that is one of life's defining moments.  I can remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when I heard the news over the television that our Queen of Hearts had been in an accident.  Like you I was glued to the television that whole evening and for days afterwards.  It seemed soo surreal.  It still is . . .

somehow I bet he wasn't the only Raider fan in the sea (get it) of Seahawk fans; Raiders seem to have fans in every city; glad the Seahawks won though because I'm not a Raider fan, LOL, (they are rivals to the Chargers and I like the Chargers better)

I can't believe it is 11 years since Princess Diana's death; amazing how fast that time has gone; I remember hearing the news; we lived in New Mexico at the time; geesh, in 11 years I've lived in 3 states

I never saw the Queen; I need to see it though because I hear there are corgis in there :)

have a great Saturday!

As and English girl I really don't understand American football (I take it is IS football you were talking about!!)  but I can understand what it must mean to be such a fan that you would follow them anywhere.  I hope your son didn't get home too late if he had to get up for work in the morning.

Diana died on my birthday and my family were all coming to me for the day, you can guess what the conversation was mostly about, we didn't switch the tv on until everyone went home though and of course that's all that was on there for days. ~~ Pat   http://journals.aol.co.uk/pm71blackfen/ramblings-from-pat/

The Royal Family lost the best asset they ever had, if only she had been treated better.  She would have made a fantastic and very popular Queen.  After all these years I still think it is so sad.  I can remember I was lying in bed unable to sleep and switched the radio on low to hear she had been involved in a car crash.  I was up for the rest of the night listening for bulletins and was shocked to the core when it was announced she was dead.  What a fool Charles was and still is, in my opinion.  Hope he is never King.

Good morning, Linda. I've been using my leaf blower already but not for leaves. I'm having to use it to blow away the "love bugs" from around the screen doors and all the cement out front. It's a heavy duty blower and my right arm is sore. I need to get a smaller one. Have a good holiday :).........alice

I love that movie.....she deserved her oscar! I, too, remember the day Diana died, I felt as if I'd lost a member of my own family.....I was depressed for days.
It'a amazing the way she touched the world, isn't it?
I wish the leaves were falling here....I love the fall, and I'm so tired of hot weather.....it's going to be in the mid 90's all next week, UGH!

That was a good movie and yes, she is sadly missed by all.  She was a wonderful woman.  I can't wait for football season to start.  It is my favorite sport for sure.

Glad your son had a chance to go to the game.  I have always loved the Raiders since I was a child, their old motto "Win Ugly" is how I think of them.  We are looking forward to both college and Pro pigskin :o)

I'm sure she was a lovely person and all but isn't it a shame the media won't let her rest in peace.

The princess di story is very sad and complicated I don't think we know all of it, and I don't beleive we should, some things should just be left alone and she should be left to rest in peace and her boys to move on. take care mrs t xx

I watched the queen. That was so sad. I always liked Princess Diana. I really feel sorry for what sacrifices those people have to make for appearance sake. ..hugs, Christine

Beth <-- Colts fan  :)

For some reason, our walnut tree always starts losing its leaves first. A few leaves started to yellow and drop a couple of weeks ago, and now it's raining walnut leaves! Fall is definitely in the air....

Football time!
