October Reader's Club

This being the first Wednesday of the month, was Reader's Club day at the local Round Table Pizza.  I was good going in~I took some books to leave for others...vowing I would not bring any home.  But then I was bad and went thru the books out on the table and brought about 8 of them home.  But, some are ones I thought Bob might like so they're not all for me.  I told my friend Jan, that I'm afraid before long, my floor may cave in with the weight of all these books.

Our guest local author was Susan Andersen.  She writes romance novels.  I went to a local used bookstore last week and got one of her books so I'd have it for today's meeting.  She graciously autographed my copy of her book "Baby, I'm Yours."  She has another book that came out earlier this year called "Cutting Loose."  One of the gals that shared our table had a copy of that book.  Susan stated that she is writing a trilogy, the first book "Bending the Rules" will be out in July 2009.  This trilogy will take place in Seattle.  Just like all the authors I've heard at these monthly meetings, Susan is a great down to earth gal.

Next month, New York Times Best Selling and local author Debbie Macomber will be the guest author and I will be in California~so will miss her.  I have read her latest hard cover book "Twenty Wishes" and and am presently reading the latest book in her Cedar Cove series " 8 Sandpiper Way".  I am sorry to be missing her appearance in October.  She's a delightful lady !

Linda, that sounds like a lot of fun! Do you take books and exchange them? That's a great idea. Don't feel bad...I had to clear out a bookshelf that had junk on it so that I could load in all the books that I HAVEN'T read yet. That doesn't count the 5 loaded bookshelves in the basement. Yikes! Oh well, I suppose there are worse vices to have, right?

I have the same issue with books that you do!  They are everywhere.  My sister has it too at her house.  We decided that we are going shopping for book shelves soon so they will at least have some kind of order.  Linda

I've been considering donating some of my books to the local library to make room for more.  It's out of control for sure.  Sounds like a nice book club.

I always enjoy reading when you talk about your reading club; it sounds like fun and what a fun to meet authors!!

I was really bad about books; I solve it by moving every 2 years or so, LOL; then I weed through all the books and get rid of the majority of them :)

still though, when I go to a garage sale, the first thing I gravitate to are the books :)

I love to read too.  Now I have a little more time to do so, and PLENTY of books...I think my Dad has a copy of every one ever written....seriously.  So as I am going through the books I am pulling out a few (too many) to read.  If you are ever looking for a particular book you want send me an email and see if I have it...I will give it to you.  Glad you had a nice day :) xoxBarb

How cool!  How many people are in your reader's group?  I wish I could find a group like that.  Maybe I'll start one.  LOL

I love books also.  Used to have a vast collection but I sold them on Amazon because we needed some extra cash.  Now I just get them from the library.  I order what I want online from the library service.

I miss getting absorbed in a good book - I was an avid reader.  I enjoyed the escape a good book can give us.  I bought a new book a few months ago, I am only on page 40!  I am so tired at night I fall asleep before I've read a few pages.
Maybe over the winter I'll get it finished.  LOL  Enjoy your new books!

Oh sometimes I think my floors will cave in too from the weight of all our books. My husband is an avid reader, even more than myself...sometimes he has three books going at the same time. I would get confused in my story lines...lol. Thats great that you live in an area that promotes reading and also meeting authors really neat...love Sandi

I would love to be there in October to meet Debbie Macomber.  I just finished reading Twenty Wishes.  It was a great book and  I am thinking of making a list of 20 wishes myself, it certainly helped to change all of their lives.  I am just off to the library myself so will look up to see if there are any Susan Anderson books available.  I am running out of space also for books, here and at my trailer up north, lol.  Have a good trip Linda, looking forward to hearing about it in your journal.

Well Linda, I have to admit that I don't read books but I do read plenty on this pc. I used to read stacks of books but have gotten away somehow. Happy readings :)..........alice

I wish we had a Reader's Club like that in our area.  I would hate to miss Debbie Macomber.  I usually like her books.

I think it's wonderful that you get to go to a readers day at your local haunt, and to be able to meet authors of some of the books you like to read as well.  I know there must be groups like that over here, but alas, most would be held in the daytime and I am always at work!  Oh well, something to look forward to when I retire!

We are a family of avid readers too. Ian and I both come from avid reading parents. Our bookshelves are overflowing as we make our way to Barnes and NOble for more..lol. Mama and I are always trading out books to each other too. I love reading so much. You cant have too many books. My dad made my mama her own WALL to WALL bookcase you could call it. It goes from the ceiling to the floor and is quite wide, and is attached to the wall..lol. She has it FULL of course. ;) Kelly
