Monday Question answered by me on Tuesday

Good mornng all! Here's my first Monday question that I'm doing for Krissy (Sometimes I think)

From: http://journals.aol.com/lv2trnscrb/Ofmini-pawsandmenopause/entries/230

Have you ever re-gifted? (That's when you got a gift from someone, you might not have liked it so you used it for another person for a gift).

Are you planning to re-gift this year?

You can answer in your journal and link back here or answer below. Have fun!!

Before I give my answer I know from conversations at work that this is a touchy subject.  Some think it's absolutely a horrible practice and others think it's ok.  I like to shop in thrift stores such as the Good Will and Value Village.  I see items in these stores, all the time,  that I know were someone's former birthday or Christmas gift .

So my theory is, if it's ok to toss in the box that's going to be donated to the Goodwill or put it out for your yard sale next summer, because you don't like it or need it...why not use it as a gift for someone else?   If I get a gift that fits in the category, I always write the date and who I received it from on a post it and keep it with the item.  It would be embarrassing to give it back to the person who gave it to you.         So, yes I have re-gifted...and yes this year I am re-gifting (just one item) again.  Once that gift is given to you, it's yours to do with as you wish.....right?

Good idea about regifting - and as you say once given to you it is yours to do with as you want - anything I get that I really don't need or want I pass on the the Charity shop - I always worried I would give it back to the person who gave it to me - never thought about making notes.....Ally

Hey; thanks for playing! I like your answer; it makes perfect sense. Once it is yours, it is to do with it what you want. I've re-gifted like I said; its usually things that are nice just not my style - usually clothes from my MIL.

Again; thanks for playing :)

I would regift but have never done it. I suppose I've been lucky enough to always get presents I like! Jeannette.

Good answer!  If you are going to give it to Good Will anyway, and it is something special, why not give it to somebody who would really like it, something whose taste it fits?
