Thursday Night

Well, the rain continues.  The weather guy on one of the Seattle TV stations says we can expect heavy rain and wind Friday and Saturday.   Then it will taper off on Sunday... and Monday  and Tuesday we can expect SUN !!  YEAH !!  Something to look forward to. (Now where did I put my sunscreen?)   Today was Groundhog Day here is the US.  I understand that "Punxsutawney Phil" either saw his shadow or didn't see his shadow, anyway the result was we will have 6 more weeks of winter.  However, that all goes on back in Pennsylvania so I don't think it concerns us here in the Pacific Northwest. If you'd like to know more about this event, you can check out the website at; http://www.groundhog.org/

All the rain is causing thousands of dollars in damages.  Whole hillsides are sliding down, houses and cabins have been lost.  And I don't think Amtrak has been able to run trains between Vancouver, BC and Portland, Oregon for quite awhile now, due to slides coming down over the tracks.  They have a rule that once a slide has been cleared from the tracks they have to wait 48 hours to run trains over those tracks...well, by then there's another slide somewhere else along the way and it's back to square one again.  I also have heard the mountain passes have been closed from time to time due to avalanches over the highway or the danger of avalanches.

The Seahawks/Steelers business is getting almost as irritating as those political ads we are bombarded with prior to major elections.  I'm not really an "athletic supporter" but I guess I have to admit, it would be good to see the Seahawks win.  This is their first time ever at the Superbowl. http://www.superbowl.com/   I may spend Sunday afternoon at a movie or maybe I'll break down and watch it. I figure if I don't watch it...I can read about it in the paper Monday morning.

Well, folks...this old lady is tired.  My movie is about over, so soon I'll be heading down the hall with my book and my kitty.  Until next time....Linda

So you still have rain, how many cloudfuls is that you've had this winter?!! Sorry to hear it's caused so much damage round your area. Sounds like by the time I get round to visiting Washington there won't be much left to see!! Jeannette.
