November Already ?

Yup it is...the first of November !  Hard to believe, huh ?  Seems like only yesterday we were all enjoying summer activities and my how things have changed in the last month or so.   Of course there's always those people who live in climates where it's always summer.  They can continue to wear their cut-offs and tank tops. While we here in the Pacific Northwest are in our long pants and fleece and sometimes still shivering.

I don't do Halloween, so about 5:30pm last night I shut the mini blinds, and turned off all the lights in the front of the house and headed for my room.  I have a TV there and a phone and of course a bathroom so I was set.  Gabi was thrilled that I was curled up on the bed reading and chatting on the phone.  She starts trying to get me to bed about 7pm...so like I said she was a happy kitty.  Several times I came into the living room and peaked out the window, only to see large groups of bigger kids roaming thru the park.  They are exactly why I quit participating in the Halloween business and I felt sorry for the older residents who leave their lights on, thinking just little kids are going to come knocking on their door.

Today I have an appointment for a flu shot at my doctor's office.  And then a follow-up at my dermatologist office.  He's retiring the end of December, so was happy to be able to get in before he's home relaxing.  But I have over an hour between appointments, so have decided to go to the hospital for lunch.  My skin doctor is right across the street from the hospital so I'll be close by.  But, this is the first time I've been back to the hospital cafeteria since I retired.  So that should be fun...perhaps being able to have lunch with or at least see someone I know.   I know Judy will be there sometime during the day visiting her daughter and the baby.  Yes, as of yesterday her daughter was still there...her blood pressure still high.  The baby is apparently doing well.   "K" still hasn't been able to hold her but they were hoping that would take place the end of this week.  And they have named the little one....Peyton Dakota.  I knew they were going to use "Dakota" but they were unsure if it would be her first name or middle name.  Anyway, Judy is aware of when I'll be there, so perhaps she'll even show up in the cafeteria about 12:15pm today.

Well, I'm off to get ready for my day...I hope everyone has a good day and don't forget to turn your calendar to November.                         Until next time....Linda

Morning to you, Linda.
Only two more months, and 2007 will be history. Good luck with your hospital appointments, and I hope you meet up with a friendly face from the past in the cafeteria.

Best wishes,

Guido

I hope you have a chance to hook up with Judy.  Although I complain about winter I think I do like having four seasons.  Winter could be only a month with spring and fall longer though, LOL.  How sweet Gabi wants to go to bed so early, she must be a little cuddle bug!!  Have a wonderful day!!

I don't blame you about the trick or treaters, we get a lot of big ones too.  But there were only about 5 groups, little kids included, then it was over.  I still have candy left, will save for stocking stuffers.  Hope you have a good day, Joni

I think you were wise to shut off your lights and retreat to your bedroom ~ those teenagers can be very frightening ~ hope your appointments go well today and you meet up with Judy ~ hope the baby is OK and "K" gets to hold her soon love the name Peyton Dakota ~ Ally x

I think maybe I should have sent you my story.  After all, you are a writer, too.  I think at least you would have answered me.  You know that old adage, "silence is deafening."  I'm sure you haven't a clue as to what I'm talking about, but don't worry; it's not important.  You just keep on with your wonderful writing.

Living way out in the sticks we don't do Halloween either but we don't have to retreat to our back room lol  The house was all lite up!  It got down to the 20's here and you bet I was in my fleece!  AND shivering still!  lol  We never put our winter stuff away around here because honestly even in the summer we can still get down in the 50's at night.  I think it's living so close to Michigan lol  All those freezing winds off the great lakes just do us in sometimes!

I've never got into Halloween, it wasn't really celebrated over here till quite recently so we didn't have trick or treaters to contend with. Some kids are fine but you'll always get the bothersome ones round knocking. I hope K's BP will soon go down. Peyton Dakota is a very pretty name, I'm so glad the baby's doing well, it's a bit scary when they're as small as she was. Jeannette xx  http://journals.aol.co.uk/jlocorriere05/Welcometomytravels

We don't give out candy anymore either.  It's not because we don't want to answer the door ~ it's because we eat the stuff and end up having to buy more.  LOL  Since we quit eating sugar 2 years ago, we decided that was the end of trick or treating, too.  Glad you had that special cuddle time with Gabi.
Hugs, Kathy
