I Am So Blessed

The state of Washington is under a state of emergency from the storm that hit our state the last few days.

There are three confirmed deaths, related to the storm.  I-5, the highway that runs north & south from the Canadian border to the Mexican border, is still closed this morning ...a 20 mile stretch is now under 10 feet of  water.  The water in the area around Chehalis, is so high, that it's up to the gutters on most houses. On our coast...32,000 homes and business are still without power.  The aerial views I'm seeing on the TV show;  big semi trucks covered up over the cabs in water, submerged cars and pick up trucks and water flowing down city streets like fast moving rivers. They are showing people wrapped up in blankets, being rescued by boats and helicopters. What a mess.

The governor of our state is going to do a fly-over today of  the counties hit the worst by this storm.  The National Guard is helping with rescuing people from their flooded homes.  The United States Air Force is sending two more helicopters from Fairchild AFB in Spokane, WA (eastern Washington) to help with continuing rescue operations today.  The Washington State Patrol is also helping in the rescue efforts.  And several troopers who live in the Chehalis area, not only spent long hours out there helping others, but lost their own homes to flooding.

It's still raining here outside my window, with just a slight wind blowing.  I did see the sun for about 10 minutes early this morning but it was soon gone, replaced by pouring rain.  They are predicting rain with 40 miles per hour wind gusts for later today, but by Wednesday...the rain should taper off.  By Friday they are saying, the temperatures will drop to freezing so all that standing water will no doubt freeze and cause other problems. Yikes !

Oh that is terrible, I feel so badly for those affected by this storm.  I am thankful you were not subjected to flooding of that magnitude.  My thoughts & Prayers are with the residents of your state.

That is horrendous, Linda. I am quite relieved that you're not too badly affected by those storms.

Stay inside with the sandbags ready!! We have some flooding along the river and some people are being asked to leave their homes. So far we have not been effected and I hope it stays that way. Sumner is under Gods eyes today! Hugs Lanny

Yes we are truly blessed and all of our families.  These are areas that we all travel in frequently.  Luckily none of us live in these areas, but I feel so bad for the people that do.  It's hard to imagine I-5 that we travel all the time is closed.  Hang in there Linda, we're tough out here in the frontier.  Joni

WOW I'm glad you are okay. I didn't realize that you all were flooding like that. I hope the rain stops soon for you all. Stay safe.
Take care, Chrissie

My goodness Linda, that is terrible!  I'm glad that you are safe, but my heart goes out to those that aren't.  Very sad, with Christmas just around the corner as well.  Will be a sad one this year for many I guess.  My thoughts and prayers are with the people of Washington.
