Another Dreary Day In Washington

It's wet out there....not really raining, just a heavy mist.  It got up to whopping 53 degrees.  When will we ever get nice weather?   Yesterday wasn't to bad but I was out in the car~I think the first time all week.  I went across town to Trader Joe's, filled up the car with gas (7.406 gallons =$27.25), came home and put the cold stuff T.J's away and then over to Lowes (using my birthday gift card) to get a few bedding plants.  They still don't have a lot of stuff in stock...particularly there's no Lobelia.  And I use a lot of that in hanging baskets.  My plan for today was to be outside planting what I did get but it's too icky out there. So I moved all the plants out into an open area so they wouldn't dry up and I've been in the house all day......running the vacuum, paying some bills, cleaning out my refrigerator's freezer.  Is meat from 2005 too old to eat?  Well, it's in the garbage can right now.  Bob has a saying that freezers are nothing the midway point between the store and the garbage can.   Oh, am I glad he wasn't around earlier today when I was doing some freezer cleaning.

Many of you will remember me writing about the kidnapping and subsequent murder of little Zina Linnik back in July of 2007.  She was only 12 years old when Terapon Adhahn snatched her from the alley behind her family's home the evening of July 4, 2007.   Yesterday he was sentenced life without the possibility of parole for this horrible crime.  He was also sentenced to 67 years to life in prison for his crimes against two other girls, including multiple counts of rape and kidnapping. Those sentences will run consecutively to his life term, so if his conviction for Zinna's death is ever overturned he'd still be looking at decades in prison.  Zinna's parents are still so overcome with grief that her mother and father were unable to come to the courtroom for the sentencing.  I can't even imagine.......

12 year old Zinna Linnik~ rest in peace little angel

Yesterday I went and bought $15.00 of gas ... got half a tank of gas!  That used to fill my tank.  Ugh.  Anyway, all I did was run down to Ft Lewis, then up to Federal Way and my gas was gone.  So, I went and put 25.00 worth of gas ... full tank this time.  I don't know how much you paid a gallon - it's getting up there everywhere.  I got gas for 2.57 over by the dome.  Most places have been 2.60 ish.  Can you BELEIVE these prices?!?!

I was glad Terapon Adhahn got life without parole.

It was yucky here yesterday and today.  Tomorrow is supposed to be sunny and in the 70's...yay.  I love it.  I can't imagine what those parents have gone through.  May he rot in jail, miserably.

That misty rain is so miserable isn't it, espaecially when you want to get out planting. I hope it clears for you soon. I'm glad that guy won't ever get out of prison again, he doesn't deserve to does he? Just to know he's still alive must make the little girls' parents sick. Jeannette xx

OH YES I do remember hearing about that and it made me SO sick to my stomach!  Just knowing how her parents had to feel.  Can you imagine someone taking your child...NOT know what in the world is happening to them and knowing there is nothing you can do about it but rely on the police to do their jobs!  OH that HAS to be the most sickening feeling in the world!  Just having a dream that my little girl was kidnapped (she was 11 at the time) made me so sick that when I woke up I had to run to the bathroom!  It's even bad in dreams I would never want to do it in real life!

THat is so sad, at least that is one more off the streets hurting little girls.

I am ready to start planting my annuals, the weather in Texas is good right, windows open for a few weeks till the summer heat hits us.  I just saw a hummingbird at my feeder this morning!

Every morning I slowly open my eyes hoping so much to see the sun, and there it is, NO SUN.  Maybe we'll have a nice Mother's Day we can always hope.  Joni

What an ugly man - in every way.  We are having nice weather for a change, each day a wee bit warmer than the previous.  My freezer is just what Bob says it is.  I have turkey in there from years ago...ugh.

So very sad.  He deserves all that can be given him in punishment.
