A Reprieve !

After 26 dry days we are getting some much needed rain today.  But...this has put the paving project behind schedule as they can't lay asphalt in the rain.  There are still two big sections of the park that need paved, so the "powers that be" have decided to postpone the Car Port sale until the weekend of August 8th & 9th.  Good for me, because I'm not ready.  Now I'll have time to get ready....if I don't procrastinate, that is.

Today being Tuesday, Barbara and I went to a movie.  We saw "Journey to the Center of the Earth" in 3-D.  The ticket price was horrible ($9.25 for seniors~normally we pay $6.25) but I imagine it costs the theater more to have those special films available.  As far as I know this theater in Puyallup is the only one showing it in 3-D.  Oh, we got to keep the special 3-D glasses.  (Big deal, huh?)

I'm hearing on the news that there's been over 30 after shocks in the Los Angeles area.  The only damage I've heard about is stuff falling off shelves, etc. Of course they'll be out checking for structural damages for several days, I would imagine.

A couple people said that my mobile home doesn't look very mobile. Well it is...it could actually be split apart and moved to another location.   There's a seam down the middle of the house where it was put together when it was brought to this location.  You can see the molding down the middle of the ceiling where it comes apart.

Mine could be moved if I wanted to do that but it's very expensive and I'd have to buy new carpet because what's here would have to be cut.  The last I heard it's between three and eight thousand dollars to move one of these houses and set it up on a new lot.

Bob's daughter and grand kids spent their first day on the set of a movie that's being made down in southern California.  Her cousin's husband, Mark Polish (Astronaut Farmer) has invited them to be extra's in this new movie starring Hillary Duff (I'm not sure who else is in it).  I haven't got a full report of their day yet but I'm sure they had a good time.  I'll fill you in as the details become available....

Well folks...that's all for now.  Have a good evening...Linda

Being a movie extra can be simple boring work or it can be horrible.  I spent one day running up subway stairs.  And there was no place to sit down between takes.  On the thter hand I worked on a film where all I did was sit in a room and read a book all day.

Just think you have your 3D glasses for the next time House Of Wax of Bwana Junction rolls around.

We had the earthquake on the news here on the East Coast within 5 minutes.  And then I got your alert a few minutes later.  Thank God there was not too much damage.  Marlene

I heard about the earthquake from you first.  Thanks news-lady.  Glad it wasn't the "Big One".  Glad you got some rain.  We got a monsoon this afternoon but it didn't last long.

glad you got some rain too!!

I didn't feel any aftershocks or if I did, they were so unnoticeable, they didn't phase me; no damage here; my husband said a few things got knocked off the shelf at work, but that was about it;thanking the Lord for our safety

Hey, Linda!  Sounds like you are going to have fun...a garage sale?  Hope it's nice weather for you.   I have some work colleagues in Long Beach, California and they felt it sway their building..up on the 8th floor but that was about it.......Yes,  I do play music on the dulcimer I featured on my photo blog...however, I haven't figured out how to upload sound yet...:)..or movies.  Maybe one day.  Back to you, the new asphalt will be nice when it's all done...and your mobile home looks really charming...remember the more space the more storage and thus the more clutter....tonight I've been working on clearing up a spot at my computer where I tend to stack mail, paperwork and projects...about 80% done....and then I need to work on the room itself and the rest of the computer cabinet...I'm amazingly fond of paper...to say the least..LOL...take it easy.  Maria

How cool about being extras in a movie...she needs to go for a speaking part!! :)
I didn't think your house looked very mobile either.  It's nice to know you do have the ability to move it if you would ever want to.  I surely couldn't move my house, well I guess we could but I doubt it.  Glad you are finally getting rain.

Rain? What is that? LOL We do not see much of that here in the so cal. One of my aunt's and uncle's owned a moble and they use to move it everytime they moved. On one move they went to the train station to meet their home and found that a bum had been living in it! LOL

I havent been to a movie in so long, I didnt realize the prices had gotten so high! That is just robbery! I havent gotten all of my alerts lately...I only had three listed for you, but I have missed more than that. AOL is really messing with people lately. Did you see where someone got their whole journal deleted by AOL??? I would be beside myself. Going to go check out things below that I missed. :) Hugs, Kelly

Hi Linda,  It`s expensive to go to the cinema here in England too. When I was a child it was really cheap and most people went regularly, now it`s very occasional. I think we go no more than 3 times a year and usually wait for a film to come out on DVD.  When we were visiting the states we saw a mobile home being transported somewhere, the lorry/truck that was moving it was enormous. :o)

I've seen them moving mobile home that don't look at all mobile! I'm glad you got some rain but hope it won't delay the roadwork too long, nice to get it done quickly! I hope Bob's daughter and her kids have fun on set! Jeannette xx  http://journals.aol.co.uk/jlocorriere05/Welcometomytravels/
