We're Loading Up

We're in the process of loading up. I'm not sure that we will actually get out of town today as it's already 5pm.  But for sure...first thing Tuesday morning.  I could have had this thing loaded hours ago but it just arrived about 4:15pm.  He tells me he's not sure if the air conditioning is working (GREAT!!) and we're going to be in Arizona where it's running 90 degrees during the day.  Oh well, we'll do the best we can.

 Until later...Linda

I HAD TO DO IT TONIGHT

I wasn't going to turn off my alerts until Monday evening but we were notified today that they are shutting the power off in the park (to finish some underground electrical cable work) again tomorrow, so I decided to turn them off tonight in case I'm unable to do it tomorrow.  Plus we may leave on our road trip Monday afternoon instead of Tuesday morning.   I have boxes and bags of stuff everywhere and Bob is not bringing his big truck and camper here until Monday.  So I'll be busy loading and getting stuff put away once it gets here. Then once that's done, I guess we can leave, if he still wants to.

My son came over today and we went over all the particulars of caring for my little Gabi.  I think he will probably end up staying here most of the time I'm gone.  He also offered to keep the lawn mowed for me.  I wasn't gone to ask, so I'm glad he offered.

Well, folks...I'll be thinking about & missing all of you this next month.  Hopefully I can get some "laptop" time and post an entry from time to time.

Until next time..........Linda

The Lost Has Been Found

I was prepared to go over to my son's apartment and kick the door in...really I was.  Of course, first I would have made a couple phone calls and checked his work place.  As it was..he is working today, then going with his girl friend to the ballet up in Seattle.  (Wish I could be a fly on the wall to see that).   Anyway, he's more than happy so watch over my little Gabi and he may even stay here from time to time. (He only has Basic Cable & I have a little more, plus if he's here..he's not running up his light bill by turning on his heat)  He's going to come over Sunday, to go over her routine with me.  I had to remind him that she's not his Tuffy (the beautiful Siamese that he had for years until he died two years ago from diabetes complications), he can't rough house with Gabi, like he did Tuffy.....she's not used to that and besides she's a delicate little flower.

My darling daughter sent me the following for all the men out there.

A Spring Cleaning Cheat Sheet...For Men.

* Broom (brum) - a long handled brush used for sweeping (also doubles as a mode of transportation for your mother)

* Vacuum (vak' u em) - much like the leaf blower except it sucks in, instead of blowing out. Don't let this alarm you. It isn't broken and doesn't need more torque, speed, RAM or whatever it is you did to the dishwasher.

* Dust pan (DUH) - Contrary to popular belief, this is where you sweep the dirt, not under the hallway area rug.

* Dust Cloth (dust kloth) - A cloth designated for removing tiny particles of dirt from every flat surface of the house. Hint: look for your old "lucky shirt".

* Bucket (buk' it)- Cylindric container used for holding soapy water when mopping the floor. Also known as your mid-evil knight helmet when you're playing with our seven-year-old.

* Mop - (mop) a bundle of coarse yarn, rags or cloth fastened at the end of a stick. You'll remember this as your dance partner at the New Year's Eve party last year.

* Toilet Brush (toi' lit brush) - Used for scrubbing the inside of the toilet bowl. I don't care what this looks like, you may NOT use my shower luffa again!

* Oven Cleaner (uv' en Klen' er) - No, not the teenager. This is an actually product that you buy, spray in the oven and wipe out two hours later. You won't need your welder's mask for this task, but if it makes you feel more dangerous & manly, go ahead.

* Sponge (spunj) - used to gently wash away food particles from dinnerware. It won't be necessary to use your 300psi Power wash set. That was given to you in hopes of cleaning the EXTERIOR of the house (hint hint).

* Squeegee (skwe' je) - Same principle as washing the car windshield, and yes, real men DO squeegee!

Final Note:
While Duct tape may be a wonderful plumbers aid, it's really not the best solution for keeping the bathroom towels in place, and Jamie's teacher is still asking why his homework was stuck to his forehead last week. For these reasons, I have hidden the duct tape and distributed your picture to the local hardware stores. Don't make me call Duct Tape Anonymous again

WHAT DID HE SAY ?????? SNOW ?????????

I just watched the late night news and when they were doing the 5 day weather forecast, I absolutely heard the word "snow" for sometime next week.  Am I glad to be leaving town Tuesday morning ????????  You bet you're bipee I am.   My friend Barbara and her hubby flew out to Reno this morning.  She called me tonight from their hotel and said the weather was perfect down there.....70 degrees. I also got a call from friends Judy & Phil (another one) today, they are down near Yuma, Arizona.  After weather in the 90's, they were getting rain there today.     As I said, we are planning to leave here Tuesday morning  and will make a couple stops on Wednesday, so should pull into Reno probably sometime Thursday morning.  Barbara and Phil aren't leaving until next Friday, so we'll have one day to "do Reno" with them.   I still can't get ahold of my son...he said he would take care of Gabi while I was gone but now I'm wondering if he left town.  I'm getting a little upset with him.  I've called, left messages and emailed...NOTHING !!!!    I don't know what I'll do if I can't reach him.  I really have no one else to leave her with.  Today, I called a couple places that board cats and the cheapest price I could find was $300 for a month of boarding.  And I haven't even checked them out...so I'm not sure I'd even want to leave her there.  I think tomorrow, I may go looking for that son of mine.

Anyway, that's all for now...it's late and I'm very tired.  It's been a long day, trying to get all the things done I need to do before I leave. so until next time.......Linda

It's A Small World

I went out to lunch with some friends today and had such a good time.  It's funny what a small world this is...I'll explain;

1.Darlene is married to a high school class mate of mine & they were on the Alaska cruise last August.

2.Barbara and I have been friends since the 6th grade and she and her husband were also on the cruise last August and because of that, got to know Darlene.

3.Then there's me...I know all three of them & they know me.

4. Patty knows Darlene because they live in the same little town up by Mt Rainier and both drove school bus for their local school district. Patty didn't know Barbara but she knows me because back in 1960 we both graduated from our respective high schools and ended up at the Telephone Co at the same time and took our training together.  We both lived at the YWCA (neither one of us had a car to get back & forth to work and both lived quite a ways out of town) and then after our training was complete..we rented an apartment together.

Patty married, quit the phone company and has lived up in her little mountain town all these years, raising a family and well...driving a school bus, until she retired last year.  We have kept in touch with phone calls, Christmas cards, and the last 6 or 7 years...email.  But because of our busy lives...we haven't seen each other for years & years.  We spent 2 hours sitting there, laughing and talking and also at the same time eating a little lunch.  We made a pact that we'd do it again..Barbara and I will drive up to their little town and meet them there in May.  Darlene and her hubby are moving to Idaho this fall after he retires so after October she won't be around anymore.  However, they are going on the Alaska cruise again this August, so that will be fun.

***********************************************************

After rain all day yesterday and then wind & rain all night I was worried about the lawn situation.  But the sun is out today and the wind is blowing strong enough to dry it out a little, so I was able to mow both the front and back yard this afternoon.  Hallelujah !!!!!!!

***********************************************************

I got a call from my dentist's office today, asking if I would like to move my cleaning appointment from next Wednesday to tomorrow morning.  It's weird because I was going to call them & postpone it until the end of April, so Bob & I could get out of town.  The receptionist must have been a mind reader....so tomorrow it's a cleaning at 10am and then I think I may get a pedicure because..... down south it's sandal weather.

Until next time.......Linda

Your Monday Photo Shoot: Night Shots

Your Monday Photo Shoot: Night Shots from John;

Taken a photo that's a little dark? Perfect:

Your Monday Photo Shoot: It's Night! Take a picture.
Naturally, taking a picture inside at night (i.e., where it's well lit and indistinguishable from day) won't do; take a picture that captures some of the quality of the night time. Also: No sunset photos. We'll save them up to do another time.

My picture entries were both taken last September down in the midway area at the Puyallup Fair in western Washington state. Linda
