What's Going On ?

My keyboard is acting weird.  Double letters, skipping letters even though I'm pressing down on the keys.

This keyboard came with my original computer back in about July of 1998.  So do keyboards wear out?

I've cleaned it good with the aerosol dust remover thingy...but it's still messing up. For this entry, I've had to go back and delete or add many letters.

I've never had one wear out but a friend of mine has lost the 'D' on her's.  Needless to say, reading her emails has become a chore...lol.

yep, after almost 10 years I think you did wear it out!! I wear out the letters on my keyboards, especially of the popular letters like 'M' and 'N'.  Neat thing is most keyboards are so inexpensive you'll be able to get something reasonable for under $20 or even less. I usually go through a keyboard every 18-24 months or sometimes sooner

Mine started giving me different letters from the ones I typed.  It was like breaking a code to send any email, an electronic crytograph.  I rebooted and it behaved itself after that.

I don't know what to say about your keyboard.  They are pretty hardy things, at least mine is, considerding the number of times it's fallen on the floor.

Good luck.                          D

Linda, they do wear out especially with the useage you give it. Ten years I think is beyond normal like for them. Replacement probably about $18 plus taxes, Good Luck Bill

Yeah, they wear out.  We go replace them about every 2 years in the office.
