ELECTION DAY

Well by now most Americans have voted or are standing in line somewhere waiting to vote. I shared in the form of a comment earlier today, that I have a real problem with the media starting to make projections as soon as the polls close on the east coast. I truly believe this could be a deterrent to those voters on the west coast, Alaska and Hawaii. It's only 4pm here right now & they are already blabbering away about who it looks like is winning. It's just not right. In fact, I wish they couldn't utter a word about election results until one or two days after the election. Do the absentee ballots not count? Here in my town, they're saying they won't be finished counting them until towards the end of the week. I'll climb down off my soap box now.

I'm going to be watching movies tonight, I won't be able to stomach the non stop election commentary that will go on all evening.

It's been sunny but windy here today. I ran a couple errands (by the way I got regular unleaded yesterday for $2.30 a gallon) and then came home and put on my "work in the yard clothes." I ran the lawn mower over the front lawn to pick up the leaves and the debris the cedar tree drops. I must have felt ambitious because after the lawn was done I got out the big wide patio broom and swept up the millions of wet leaves on the driveway and in front of my house. Then I used my snow shovel to scoop them up and deposit them in the yard waste can. Before I was done, I nearly filled the can. For the moment ~ the front yard and driveway look wonderful. But they are predicting another wind & rain storm for my area so I'm sure I'll be doing the same thing all over again in a week or so.

I'm going to start downloading the vacation pictures real soon. I'm still going thru mail, and the bags of stuff laying around on the living room floor plus the normal day to day stuff. Tomorrow is my Reader's Group at the Round Table Pizza so that will take me away for about 3 hours. But I am anxious to get started on telling you about our time away from home.

Until next time........Linda

you know, I'm with you. I just wish the reports would STOP coming until all the votes are counted.

Period.

Linda, That is a great idea...
All I know is my favourite show is pre-empted so I think I will be like you and go crawl into my comfy tempur-pedic bed and have a JAG marathon...oh just loved that show and have all six seasons..

Blessings,

Lori (Alberta)

I agree with you, all the votes should be counted before anything is said.
I am looking forward to hearing about your vacation.

I totally agree with you and for that reason, I don't watch the TV at all on election nights. I listen to music only. I know for a fact that it makes others feel why vote when they hear the results.

I went to vote at 10 AM and didn't get home until 1 PM, we spend close to 3 hours waiting and voting! It was insane, at our polling location they had the Tribune there, King 5 and Komo 4 all came by while I was there! Someone called in some polling official/attorney to check things out - and she arrived when we did.

Anyway, it was interesting. Most people were tolerant of the wait. Only one point I thought there might be a problem when a bit of shouting happened. It ended quickly, whew.

It's certainly been an historic day, but we shall have to wait and see if the right man got voted in won't we. I don't think that the media should be able to post any results until the whole thing is over.

As a California girl, I agree that the results come in too early. People who vote on their way home hear the results and think, "why bother?"

I watched the concession speech an the acceptance speech then about 30 minutes of follow up. That was enough. Tomorrow I'll check local results in the paper.

Can't wait to see your vacation pics!

I so agree with you we don't have that problem here as we all live in one time-zone. Our telly has been full of your elections too glad it's finished it seemed to have been going on forever. Love Joan.

Wow lady - you were ambitious! Good job on making the lawn look good even if it is only until the next windstorm.

That's what I tried to tell hubby but he says it's all about the electoral votes, that he explained to me and I still don't get...

They shouldn't project anything until all the polls have closed nationwide. They waited a year and a half...they can wait one more day!

I'm with you, Linda, about the election conference; I was afraid my son would be waiting in line at the voting place (he voted around 7p.m. here last night) and someone would come in and announce results and that would deter his excitement of voting for his first president, thankfully that didn't happen

wow you were busy!! bet it felt good

can't wait to see the vacation pictures

i was wondering the same thing...what about the absentee ballots? I just mailed my husbands day before yesterday..doesnt his vote count? I just wonder about this, since an acceptance speech has already been given.

My husband said "Our service men and women don't count when it comes to electon time". I am beginning to think that is true.

Oh I totally understand about all the election crap!!! I used to be an Avon rep. But I also go to school full time and I am a Soldier's Angel, so I had to stop that. But I am going to pick it back up when things quiet back down again...

HI, Linda! Welcome back! Can't wait to see your pics. We have GOT to get together and share a photo trip...but I'm thinking you may be all photoed out for a while...is that a word? Anyways, good to hear from you. I also agree about the polling...we need to do something to all people get to fairly vote and feel like they make a difference. I don't even think I saw Alaska turn a color until before I went to bed.....:) Maria
